CINEMAITALIAUK ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE UK PREMIERE SCREENING OF NANNI MORETTI’S LATEST FEATURE ‘A BRIGHTER TOMORROW’

SUNDAY 21 JANUARY AT THE CURZON MAYFAIR CINEMA

CinemaItaliaUK is delighted to announce the exclusive UK premiere screening of Nanni Moretti’s latest film A Brighter Tomorrow (Il Sol dell’Avvenire) on Sunday 21January at 5 pm at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema, London. Presented In Competition at the 2023 Cannes International Film Festival, A Brighter Tomorrow received an impressive 13-minute standing ovation at its public screening in the Palais des Festivals. Starring Mathieu Almaric, Silvio Orlando, Margherita Buy, Jerzy Stuhr and Barbara Bobulova, as well as Nanni Moretti himself, the film centres on a film director who finds himself at a crossroads, both on set and at home.

Using the formula of a film within a film, Moretti builds on the themes he first approached in Palombella Rossa. Whilststill singing his heart out to Franco Battiato, he struggles to accept that people may not be how he wants them to be, and refuses to let go of his dream even when defeat seems near… Known for his distinctive cinematic style marked by a blend of wit, introspection, and a sharp observation of contemporary life, Nanni Moretti’s films often intertwine personal narratives with broader social and political commentary, creating a unique and engaging cinematic experience. A Brighter Tomorrow, like many of Moretti’s previous films, is characterized by a mixture of humour and profound reflection, allowing audiences to connect with the characters on both an intellectual and emotional level.
